March 5th, 2016 was a beautiful evening full of love and support.

Sunnyslope Youth Center Celebrates the Holidays GFP Style

On December 12, 2015 Sunnyslope Youth Center celebrated the holidays with Global Family Philanthropy with a day to remember. GFP donated brand new shoes and other gifts to the many children served by the youth center. The volunteers, children, and their families were treated to a delicious meal catered by Bourbon Jack's Bar and Grill. A variety of holiday activities were offered including a special visit from Santa Clause! In addition, Global Family was proud to offer a donation to the youth center from the pop-up shop fundraising event held earlier in the year. We are excited for the commitment between GFP and Sunnyslope Youth Center and look forward to future events.

Charity Pop-Up to Benefit Sunnyslope Youth Center

On August 26, 2015 armed with truckloads of donated brand new athletic shoes and an overwhelming desire to give back, Lori Goldberg’s heart belies her diminutive size. The Paradise Valley resident founded Global Family Philanthropy in 2009 to provide basic needs for impoverished children in Haiti. Starting Labor Day weekend for 5 weeks, Goldberg and her non-profit group brought their altruistic efforts closer to home, focusing on Sunnyslope Youth Center in north central Phoenix. “All young people deserve to feel safe and have access to positive role models,” Goldberg said. “To support the needs of Sunnyslope Youth Center, proceeds from this sale will create new after-school enrichment opportunities. We couldn’t be happier about the timing, with many families shopping for back-to-school needs,” she added. To make this Back-to-School Pop-Up Charity venture a reality, several angels had to intervene. First, Shawn Esmaili, founder of Youth Against Poverty, donated over 900 pair of brand new children’s, women’s, and men’s athletic shoes from top manufacturers such as Asics, Puma, Converse, Adidas, Saucony and Vans. Fashion Square's Shoe Palace made a sizable donation and the Adrian Wilson Foundation added more coveted high-end athletic shoes to the mix.

The efforts of Global Family Philanthropy's pop-up resulted in a donation of over $8,500.00 in cash and in kind donations to Sunnyslope Youth Center.

House of Refuge New Shoes and Dinner, May 2013

From volunteer Michelle Catone: "This evening I worked with a wonderful group of volunteers from Global Family Philanthropy at House of Refuge/House of Hope Sunnyslope. We served a delicious dinner to 35 kind and appreciative men in transitional housing. After dinner, each man was given a new pair of shoes donated to GFP by former AZ Cardinal Adrian Wilson. What an amazing experience! My heart is full! Next time you should all come and join us!"

Big thank you to all of our volunteers and to 21 Cakes for providing dessert and Adrian Wilson for your donation of shoes. And thank you to House of Refuge for opening up your home to us.

Feb. 23, 2013 Imagine 2013 — Growing Love

The annual Imagine Gala — Growing Love — was held this year at the historic Arizona Biltmore Resort and Spa. This year's Imagine Award recipient was Evon Yaro-Fig, who throughout 2012 helped GFP raise money through a pop-up shoe store located in Scottsdale. Evon and her close friend Cardinals player Adrian Wilson were instrumental in helping us raise enough money to secure a shipping container of medical supplies through Project C.U.R.E. GFP also awarded Shawn Esmaili, of San Francisco, the junior Imagine Award for his continued support of our work in Haiti. His organization Youth Against Poverty donated $17,000 to GFP for the creation of a medical clinic. Thank you to our dedicated event chairs — Jo Hayslip and Karen Zorn — for all your hard work.

January 2012- GFP, YAP and Adrian Wilson

To make this Pop-Up Charity venture a reality, several angels had to intervene. First, Shawn Esmaili, founder of Youth Against Poverty (, donated over 2,500 pair of brand new children’s, women’s, and men’s shoes from top manufacturers such as Asics, Puma, Converse, Adidas, Saucony and Vans, with a retail value of $77,000. Then, a windfall arrived from Adrian Wilson of the Arizona Cardinals, who also owns High Point Shoes at Scottsdale Waterfront. Wilson contributed men’s, women’s and children’s shoes from Puma, Converse, Vans, Nike and other top brands, at a retail value of $70,000.

The final piece fell into place when Scottsdale Waterfront donated space for the Pop-Up Charity in a prime location between Sauce and High Point Shoes. “Not only will you be able to buy the latest Converse or Vans shoes for as little as $20 a pair, every dollar of your purchase will be tax deductible, going toward supplies and construction of the future medical clinic,” Goldberg said.
