GFP Benefits from Napa's
Blue Oak School Community Service Project

"Relationships among freedom, responsibility, community and the environment are explored through studies that engage students as stewards in service to the school, the region and the world."

Utilizing primarily reused, recycled or donated materials, students, faculty and friends of Blue Oak School created fantastic works of valentine inspired art and are proud to have earned close to $3,500. As in the past, $2,000 of the funds raised from the event will be combined with those of St. Stephen's Episcopal School in Austin, Texas to continue the ongoing construction of a school at St. Etienne near Hinche, Haiti.

This year Blue Oak School donated $1,400.00 to Global Family Philanthropy to use for their 2016 projects.

"Giving students the opportunity to participate in well-coordinated community service projects promotes empathy, cooperation, and citizenship. It helps students develop personal and social responsibility, often gives them exposure to diversity and multiculturalism and improves critical thinking and problem solving skills. The yearly Hearts for Haiti event directly addresses the mission of our school."
